We had a mega laugh at the Wilton Way street party for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It rained and rained but, with the new BYOG policy (bring your own gazebo, that is) we stuck it out, showed the weather who was boss and partied until the evening. Thank you to everyone that stuck it out with us. And special thanks to Mike Gabel and his amazing deep-fat-fried Corn Dog karaoke stand, Coins Junkyard Snack Bar, to The Old Milk Float, who entertained with games, Folk Room for programming the live music, the lads from next door for wheeling out their piano and starting the East End singalongs, to Violets, The Spurstowe Arms, Other Side of the Pillow, Hackney Empire, Toppers of Hackney and all of the other local business involved in putting on such a mega day. And to the Pom Pom Factory for the epic decorations that really made the street sing.
Here’s a fantastic video by Fozia Nasir that celebrates the day.
