Broadcasts from Live: Aloft Excel:

Live From Wilton Way: The Blonde Ambition Show

It’s London Fields Radio’s very first ever live broadcast! We were live and direct from December’s The Wilton Way Street Party, hosted by local patrons of parody The Daily Twit, for a Christmas special and three hours of ohshitsomeonesaidarudewordliveontheinternetairwaves hilarity. And now you can listen back to it here.

First up, it’s Miss Blonde Ambition, who leads us gently into the festive shenanigans with some mince pie nibbling, a live acoustic set from Wilton Way’s very own “muscular pop” (and trés dreamy) band, Real Fur, and a cocktail – or five. Plus jingle bell-tastic music from Blood Orange, Florence and the Machine and Wild Beasts.

LFR Pop-up: Room Service

London Fields Radio is on tour again and this time we’re broadcasting, pop-up style, from a slick suite in the brand new Aloft Excel hotel in London. Expect the usual LFR banter and great music selections, with guests from the Aloft party dropping by for a chat.

In the first show of the evening, LFR’s Kate Hutchinson and Deanne Oliver-Evans, who host the Nite Bites and Blonde Ambition/Lovesick shows, take Aloft-goers on a journey through rock ’n’ roll’s sordid hotel history, from the Chelsea to the Riot House to Aloft, with an interview with the lovely Sam from parkour performers 3Run in-between.

LFR Pop-up: The London Fields Radio Sleepover

London Fields Radio is on tour again and this time we’re broadcasting, pop-up style, from a slick suite in the brand new Aloft Excel hotel in London. Expect the usual LFR banter and great music selections, with guests from the Aloft party dropping by for a chat.

In the final stop-off of their 2011 tour, which has taken them everywhere from Peckham to Dalston with London Fields Radio, Legally Blind (in Poland)’s Lucy Pink and the Reverend Milo Speedwagon slip into their jim jams – or, if you’re Milo, a quite revealing night shirt – to host the London Fields Radio Sleepover.

They take you on a dreamy journey through interviews with some of the performers at the Aloft party, including Urban Knights, Belgian pop band Fastlane Candies and soul newcomer Jay James Picton (who is partial to pyjamas himself, he says), topped off with a dream-tastic dose of Gabrielle, R. Kelly and the Brand New Heavies. And, as usual, hilarious banter from Rev and Lucy too. Enjoy!

LFR Pop-up: Chaka Kant’s Disco Loft

London Fields Radio is on tour again and this time we’re broadcasting, pop-up style, from a slick suite in the brand new Aloft Excel hotel in London. Expect the usual LFR banter and great music selections, with guests from the Aloft party dropping by for a chat.

In this episode, London Fields Radio’s resident Auteur Reporter, Charlotte Kingston, takes her disco alter ego, DJ Chaka Kant, to the ultimate New York Loft Party in, err, Canning Town. Room 326 in the swanky Aloft hotel experiences an unsubtle ‘disco-lation’ of the norm and a stupendous amount of D.I.S.C.O. to get your sequinned hot pants swinging. Joined by the delightful disco-house lady Sophie Lloyd, it’s a right proper Studio 54 East End knees up.

LFR Pop-up: Penthouse Suite Beats

London Fields Radio is on tour again and this time we’re broadcasting, pop-up style, from a slick suite in the brand new Aloft Excel hotel in London. Expect the usual LFR banter and great music selections, with guests from the Aloft party dropping by for a chat.

In Penthouse Suite Beats, LFR guest presenter Alex Kenning – a Radio 1 producer and House FM DJ – presents a smooth mix of house and disco, from Waifs & Strays to Crystal Fighters via Joe Goddard (tracklist soon come). Meanwhile, the Urban Nerds crew pop in and exclusively reveal the venue for their massive NYE party with Numbers and Swamp 81; Cut & Paste, Monorex and competition winner of the evening, Sam Bevington, talk about digital art battles; and Aloft’s party host and LFR regular, Charlie Dark, tells us about Run Dem Crew and spoken word in the capital.
