In the pursuit of arousing curiosity and discoveries,
Samad JBLE introduces a show where the lack of pattern or predictability is key.

Laurence Turner: ‘Horns!’

Posted on: April 11, 2017

More and more I find myself more excited and interested in the sounds of trumpets, clarinets and saxophones and less consciously moved by the sound of guitars. Most people love songs played on guitars but when was the last time you felt specifically turned on by the sound of a guitar?
These are songs from a range of genres that feature interesting and unusual sounds coming out of horns. I had a lot of fun putting this show together because this is also a pretty solid reflection of my current listening tastes.

With music from:
-John Coltrane
-Colin Stetson
-James Blake
-Steve Reich
-Charles Mingus

and more!

søunds fløating arøund: mar17 (by this is a prøject.)

Posted on: April 5, 2017

‘søunds fløating arøund’ is a monthly compilation of tracks hand picked by this is a prøject. it’s all about eclecticism so expect various genres of music, including funk, soul, disco, nu-disco, electronica, balearic, chill/deep house & others.

chango unchained dropped by the cafe & played a vinyl only set. a bit more about the man: he picked up his first pair of decks two years ago, but in that time chango has won over many dancefloors and developed a fine taste for the best on wax, old and new.
brought up on michael jackson, abba and the beach boys, he is well attuned to old-school classics, while his years spent as a chorister and cellist means he is also influenced by choral and classical music. other inspiration is strictly not limited to soul, funk, disco, groove, house, techno, jazz – from around the world.
always keen to discover new sounds, chango hosted a radio show at university and has written about music for time out, resident advisor, ransom note and east end review.

he will be playing alongside chris airplays & wondergupta at the upcoming søunds spinning arøund party, which will take place on the 13th of may @ club makossa, dalston kingsland.

Natural Element #38

Posted on: April 4, 2017

Natural Element #38 is finally here after some delay. Recorded on Saturday 18th March, this one presents an array of sounds from all over the globe. A journey through music I’ve been digging of late, kicking off with some soul, funk and beats and moving into some house and disco cuts. Mind the technical skips on some of the tracks.

Enjoy the ride.
